08/13/2008 - New Vision System from Interface Improves Welding Yields

Laguna Niguel, CA, August 13, 2008 --- Interface today announced the launch of a new high-resolution vision system for its Tube Welding Machine. Featuring a high-resolution color monitor, this gives production engineers improved visibility of the weld, increasing yields and reducing production time. The Interface Tube Welding Machine is a simple, yet intricate system used to weld polymer components by heat activation which produces optimum bond strength. The vision system’s line-of-sight monitor makes weld placement easier, reducing scrap and increasing throughput.

Interface’s Tube Welding Machine features an automated cycle controlled by a PLC controller with pneumatically activated heat shields and a pneumatic welding jaw slide/gripper assembly. The custom weld jaws and heat shields can be supplied with up to six weld grooves of different sizes in order to accommodate different shaft sizes without having to change out the jaws. Custom heat shields prevent heat transfer to sensitive areas of the catheter.

The new vision system will be sold as an option with the Tube Welding Machines, or as a separate upgrade to existing machines.
